If you run a Telegram channel and a discussion group, you may want group members to join the channel before they can post.
UC PR Bot checks channel membership when someone sends a message in your group. If the requirement is not met, the bot deletes the message and shows the member how to complete it.
The subscription check does not remove the person from the group. They can join the required channel and send a new message.
Before you start
You need permission to appoint administrators in both the main group and the channel you want to check.
Choose either @UCPRbot or @UC_PR_bot. They offer the same features but have independent settings. Use one of them in your main group.
Set up the channel membership requirement
- Connect your group. Open the bot, press Start, then Add chat. Select your group and give the bot the administrator permissions listed in the setup guide.
- Open the setup wizard. Select the connected group and press Set up checks.
- Choose the rule. Select the language for member notices and choose Subscription only. Members will not need to add other people to meet this requirement.
- Connect your channel. Choose Channel to check and add the same bot as an administrator there. Use Continue setup to return to the wizard.
- Choose who the rule applies to. You can check new members or include existing members. Set an access period or choose unlimited access.
- Start the checks. Review the settings and confirm.
You can select up to five channels or groups. In Subscription only mode, members must join every enabled destination.
Test with a regular member account
Administrators and people on the white list are exempt. Use an ordinary account covered by your chosen settings.
First, send a message without joining the required channel. The bot should remove it and show the requirement. Then join the channel, press Check completion and send a new message.
The original deleted message is not restored automatically.
If the check fails, confirm that you selected the correct channel, that the bot is an administrator there and that you joined using the account being checked. Your group and channel must use the same bot.
What happens if someone leaves the channel?
Optional unsubscribe monitoring rechecks membership periodically when a member posts again. If a check finds that the requirement is no longer met, the bot removes the message and asks the person to join again.
This is an activity-based recheck, so it should not be treated as an instant response to every channel departure.
